Cavendish Vacancies

The Cavendish Education Trust offers an exciting and dynamic workplace environment. We believe that staff make a difference to children and place staff development at the centre of our strategic planning.

Promoting the continuous professional development of our staff is one of our highest priorities as we believe this is a vitally important part of improving outcomes for young people. Cavendish Education Trust is proud of its record in developing staff and on the quality of CPD more widely.

Continued Professional Development at Cavendish School: Believing in Excellence

At Cavendish School, we are dedicated in our endeavour to ensure that Continued Professional Development (CPD) is not just a requirement, but an exciting and integral part of our school’s culture. Rooted in our Four Pillars of Learning (Engagement, Feedback, Independent Learning and Challenge), our CPD programme is designed to inspire, empower and elevate every member of staff, from ECTs to experienced leaders.

Our commitment to professional development is reflected in the confidence of our staff. An impressive 98% of teachers, according to our 2024-25 staff survey, believe that ‘leaders at Cavendish actively use professional development to encourage, challenge and support their growth.’ This endorsement is echoed in our January 2025 OFSTED report, which recognised that: ‘Through high-quality training and development, the school has ensured that teachers have the subject knowledge and expertise to deliver the curriculum with impact and precision.’

We pride ourselves on recruiting exceptional teachers and then investing in their continuous improvement. Every teacher at Cavendish benefits from a rich and inspirational CPD programme. A key element of this is our termly Faculty Improvement Time (FIT) meetings, where faculties come together to focus on specific developmental goals informed by our teaching and learning monitoring. Alongside this, our Teaching and Learning Twilights provide all staff the opportunity to collaborate across disciplines and explore whole-school priorities, reinforcing our collective commitment to excellence in education.

Leadership development is another cornerstone of our CPD offer. Through the Cavendish Leadership Programme, aspiring leaders are supported with personalised mentoring, regular reviews aligned to individual targets and high-quality training sessions led by external experts. In addition, teachers are encouraged to apply for the Teaching and Learning Team, which offers a one-year leadership role with a TLR, giving teachers the chance to apply their developing leadership skills in a real-school context.

The Teaching and Learning Team create exciting CPD opportunities and sessions that tightly link to our school priorities. These thoughtfully designed sessions are directed to support all staff in delivering high-quality teaching that meets the needs of both teachers and pupils. By taking an informed, educated approach we ensure that professional development is not only research based and relevant, but also inspiring.

At Cavendish, CPD is seen as an opportunity. It fuels our ambition, strengthens our teaching practice and ensures that every pupil benefits from the best possible education. We are proud to be a school where professional development is dynamic, purposeful and genuinely exciting.

Safguarding

The Cavendish Education Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people and we expect all staff, partners and volunteers to share this commitment.

All staff are recruited under our safer recruitment processes, in line with DfE requirements, which includes DBS checks. We have a suite of safeguarding procedures, policies and guidance for all of our staff and volunteers to ensure we actively promote children and young people’s welfare and safety.

We are also committed to equality of opportunity in employment and it is our policy to promote equal opportunities in employment, regardless of race, colour, nationality, ethnic or national origin, creed, disability, sex, age, marital status or sexual orientation. This applies to recruitment and selection practices, training, promotion and in the application of national and local agreements in respect of pay and conditions of service.

Celebrating Success

The staff and governors of Cavendish wish to congratulate all of our Year 11 pupils for the fantastic GCSE grades they have achieved this year.

Headteacher, Peter Marchant said, "The grades that our pupils have achieved are a reflection of their hard work throughout their time at the school and they can rightly feel proud of what they have achieved through these  challenging times."
